The 2022 SSA Fall Conference is right around the corner and we know that you're bringing not only your curiosity about what’s new in self storage, but also your appetite.
Here are eight excellent restaurant recommendations in the area. For your convenience, we’ve listed them from the closest to the farthest from the MGM Grand Hotel.
Eggslut may be a racy name, but it’s a reminder of just how many tasty meals you can enjoy here, made with eggs. There are sandwiches, like the bacon, egg & cheese or sausage, egg & cheese, the egg salad sandwich, and so much more. This is a great place to fill up after a long day or between panels. You’ll find Eggslut in the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas at 3708 Las Vegas Blvd South, on Level 2, in the Boulevard Tower, just three minutes from the convention.
What you should get: The Slut
Also three minutes away, and also in the Cosmopolitan, is Momofuku. This Asian fusion restaurant serves spicy noodles, various types of ramen, shrimp buns, pork buns, grilled ribeye, roasted duck, and a lot more. The bar serves wine, cocktails, sake, and beer.
What you should get: Pork Belly Buns, Bossam
It’s tough to disagree with the motto of Skinnyfats, “Live Healthy, Live Happy.” Located at 6261 Dean Martin Drive, seven minutes from the MGM Grand, this restaurant has plenty of delicious and healthy choices, including vegetarian hors d'oeuvres, veggie and chicken salads, bowls with curry, chicken, and steak, a bevy of unique burgers, tacos, and much more. For dessert, have some banana pudding or a cookie.
What you should get: Smoke in a Bowl (Healthy), Curry be Happy (Happy)
Seven minutes from the MGM Grand in another direction, you’ll find Yardbird, which serves southern American cuisine. Situated in the Venitian Las Vegas Hotel, at 3355 Las Vegas Blvd, you can get a variety of delicious, filling foods. Dig into dishes like lobster mac, short rib, their chicken and waffle plate, deviled eggs, fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, and much more.
What you should get: Fried Green Tomato BLT, Chicken and Waffles
Another seven-minute distant restaurant we love is Lotus of Siam, at 620 E Flamingo Rd. Here, you can get northern Thai food for lunch and dinner, daily. Each dish has a beautiful presentation, and meals you can order include garlic prawns, fried wontons, chicken dumplings, mee krob, chicken wings, Thai salad with peanut sauce, wonton soup, and more. Plus, they serve cocktails and a large assortment of wines.
What you should get: Khao soi, Tom Yum, Crab Fried Rice
Savory, sweet, and farm-fresh. That’s what you’ll get at Hash House A Go Go, just seven minutes from our hotel. The motto here is “The Midwest Meets the Coasts,” so expect welcoming food with fresh ingredients. The closest location is at 3535 Las Vegas Blvd S, though there are other Hash House spots in Las Vegas. Dishes include grilled french toast, sage fried chicken, chicken pot pie, and hickory smoked bacon, among many others.
What you should get: Andy's Sage Fried Chicken and Waffles, Tractor Driver Combo
We’re getting into a slightly longer drive, but if you’re carving ribs and other souther-style meals, the trip to Rollin Smoke Barbeque is worth it. You’ll find this restaurant at 3185 S Highland Dr, serving sandwiches like chopped brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, and brisket dog. You can purchase meat by the pound too, including the brisket mentioned above, burnt ends, smoked turkey, and more. They have a variety of sauces to go with your meal, cobbler and other desserts, and a kid's menu, too.
What you should get: The "Spudtastic," The Pit Special
Fourteen minutes from the convention, you can dine at the aptly-named Bacchanal Buffet is in the Caesar’s Palace Hotel at 3570 S Las Vegas Blvd. It may be pricy, but since it’s a buffet, you can go back for seconds, and the choices are sublime. There’s prime rib, a variety of different types of crab legs, lamb chops, pork belly, oysters, lobster, and more. If you want a decadent meal, you’ll find one here.
We hope you have a blast at this year’s SSA Fall Conference, and enjoy one or more of our favorite Las Vegas restaurants.
